Open Question: How to get out of a 100 Dollar Student debt lost textbook.?

Saturday, October 13th, 2007

I owe $103.33 for loosing a textbook i left on the school bus, I called the bus company 6 times, wrote several emails to Deans, the Principal and the Super Intendent if they had any info about the whereabouts of my book, I checked the lost and found every day for 3 and a half weeks, and ate no lunch to save enough to pay off my debt for 5 or 6 days, after saving 25 dollars my mom stole half of it, the rest i spent while I went with my friend a fewwhere, now I have a 0 dollar balance and I dont know how to pay this 103 dollars without not eating lunch, i told my parents i owed 20 dollars and even then they tell me to look for the book, if i told them the true story they would probably slap me then never pay it until the bill came to pay it. Then they would shout and hit me again and keep telling me to look for it. What can i do to pay this debt without getting beaten or starving myself? Can a fewone please help me. Please.

Open Question: How can I stop being so paranoid about spending money?

Saturday, October 13th, 2007

I grew up with a VERY frugal father, which I think led me to the point where I am today: a 20-year-old who is borderline obsessed with watching her money. I have a part-time, mediocre-paying job and attend class full-time, so it's imaginable that I would be on a budget. It's good in a sense because I haven't built up any credit card debt and I don't make senseless purchases, but in a way, I have taken all the fun out of spending money. I can't even go out and have a good time with my friends because the entire time I am focusing on how much money I am going to spend. Sometimes I do splurge on myself (and by splurge I mean MAYBE a $40 pair of jeans, usually a fewthing cheaper), but afterwards I just hate to look at that checking account balance.

Any suggestions for an extremely thrifty college student?? How can I stop being so concerned about my money situation, and just relax and have fun?

Open Question: Is it worth paying stud loan debt quicker or saving for house down payment??

Saturday, October 13th, 2007

I don't HAVE to ever purchase a house because I'm single (&planning on staying that way) and happily sharing a large house with a roommate(only $450/mo.). I make about $3300/mo., but I have a $36,000 stud loan I'm paying on. I have no other debt and I can write-off the interest from the stud loan on my taxes.

I've been paying double payments on that loan recently, but I'm wondering if this is a bad idea. Should I only pay the minimum payments instead and save for a future house down payment in case I change my mind??????????????????

Open Question: Paying an outstanding HP credit with my credit card?

Saturday, October 13th, 2007

Hi i want to pay an outstanding credit agreement that i was conned with by using my credit card.. it will be cheaper in interest than the agreement im currently paying.. i was totally ripped off…. my question is… if i pay by credit card is this seen as a cash transaction and therefore do i incurr higher credit card charges?

RBS credit card
so if i use my credit card by putting the details on the letter for them to take the payment it is the same as writting a credit card cheque isnt it? both ways are therefore 'cash' payments..

is it worth asking my credit card company if they would do me a deal on low interest or a fewthing? do you think they might?? Please edit answers if you can..

Open Question: Finding interest rate question?

Suppose that Braun runs an ad for a Escalade that says “Zero down, 0% financing, $799 per month for five years, or purchase for $43,599. Is this really 0% financing? Explain.

If not, find the approximate annual interest rate, compounded monthly. Can anyone help me with this?
